WHY A BAMBOO HOUSE?

Most importantly, it is aesthetically beautiful. Step inside the Amik Kil Ha’ bamboo house and you immediately feel it’s uniqueness. Solid, organic, quiet and strong are some of the words that people use to describe the house when they first enter. Here are some facts!

– We use GUADUA bamboo that is grown on a family run plantation in southern Guatemala . This unique species was brought from Columbia 18 years ago where it has been used as a construction material for 200 years.

– In comparison to yellow Belizean bamboo, GUADUA bamboo is much more bug resistant and known as the world’s strongest bamboo. All our bamboo is treated against bug infestation and undergoes a 3-week borax bath in Guatemala and sprayed on site in Belize.

– With amazing flexibility and at least twice the tensile strength of wood and steel, GUADUA bamboo homes are known for their outstanding resilience in hurricanes and earthquakes.

– Bamboo is a plant and is ready to harvest in 5-7 years after planting. Once harvesting begins, it will continue to send out more shoots the more it is cut, and the whole plant can last up to 100 years.

– The environmental benefits of building with bamboo are many

  • Bamboo absorbs huge amounts of CO2
  • It’s a sustainable and renewable resource
  • It prevents forest evaporation
  • It has huge water storage capacity
  • Prevents soil erosionFor more info, please see www.guaduabamboo.com OR Contact Us HERE!
