Welcome to Amik Kil ha'

My husband Jim and I have been visiting Belize for over 10 years creating this unique community in paradise, Amik Kil Ha’.

Jim practiced law in Richmond BC for 32 years before hanging up that hat in July 2014 which enabled us to spend longer periods of time in the country to begin the physical process of creating Amik Kil Ha’. Jim brings years of very successful negotiating and problem-solving with people to our Belize venture and is our most valuable asset in terms of developing positive relationships on the ground in Belize. We believe all successful businesses are built on trust and open communication and Jim is amazing at that.  Plus, he loves to meet people and hear their stories so come by and meet him!

I was a Massage Therapist for 25 years in Ladner, BC where we lived and raised our 2 awesome daughters. Following that, I spent 4 years fulfilling a dream of attending and graduating from a fine arts college in Vancouver. The skills developed there have helped me in many areas of running our Amik Kil Ha’ business.

We now spend 6 months of the year on the Placencia Peninsula and the other 6 months in Vancouver, Canada with our family and friends. On the land, Jim happily spends his time cleaning the land and pruning the forest while I feed my love of plants by constantly planting and planning our next landscape project.

Belize is a country with a stable government, a growing economy and tropical weather year round. We find the simpler pace of life, and the easy going and friendly nature of the Belizean people to be a particularly enticing combination.

We are loving this Belizean adventure and would be happy to chat with you about your Belizean dreams and share our excitement about Amik Kil Ha’.

Unified by a love for the Earth and the people who live in it.

We believe that this beautiful Earth is meant to be enjoyed and explored in a way that maintains it’s health and respects it’s fragility.  Our first bamboo house is a true example of a sustainable, renewable and eco-friendly structure.  We learned a lot from building this house and we would be happy to share our knowledge no matter what type of house you are interested in.
